“Beware of harking back to what you once were when God wants you to be something you have never been.”
~Oswald Chambers

Our hearts & minds can sometimes ‘romanticize’ the past. It is so easy to do. We can make things, people & experiences seem far better than they actually were.
“Why were the former days better than these?
For it is not from wisdom that you ask this.” ~Ecclesiastes 7:10
However….if we think about it, we can learn to reflect accurately on the past with more understanding. We can recognize that what we experienced (or what we have read about others experiencing) was perhaps bittersweet – and we can see with wisdom & discernment – that some parts were ‘good’ and some parts ‘not so good’.
The ‘heart of nostalgia’ can cause us to feel a mixture of comfort and melancholy at the same time. We can not go back and re-live the past, but we can smile at any sweetness we do find.
Remember though, each moment you live TODAY is to be embraced. And if you think about it, each day you embrace is a future sweet memory.
Take each day, one day at a time 🤍
“This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” ~Psalm 118:24
Live each moment in service to the Lord and your neighbor. Love the Lord & one another and enJOY the days!! Based on the Christian Westminster Catechism:
