What brings you peace?

Well, there are so many things that help me feel peaceful! Warm sunshine, laughter, spending time with loved ones, delicious food and so much more!
All too often though, we want ‘our peace’ to be attached to peaceful feelings….and well, this can be a problem. Don’t misunderstand me, I too love to have a peaceful, good feeling because well, it feels good! It certainly seems to be a good tool for measuring how much peace I have. The more peaceful I am the more I will feel it, right?
The answer is actually, NO. We must learn this wisdom, that there is so much peace that can be had that will not necessarily always be accompanied by good feelings! You can’t use feelings as a compass, barometer or measurement tool for this.
Don’t be misled and remember there is nothing wrong with desiring to have that peaceful feeling. The Lord is merciful and can bless us with these good feelings, however not necessarily all of the time. We trust and cling to the truth.
We must trust Christ and not our feelings. Amen!
