Do you trust your instincts?

Merriam-Webster defines instinct in the following way:
“A natural or inherent aptitude, impulse, or capacity”
A simple answer to the question asking if I trust my natural instincts, I would truthfully have to say ‘what does God say?’.
I realize this may probably be a very unpopular answer. However, God explains in His Word:
“But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” ~1 Corinthians 2:14
We are to make sure that we align our ‘impulses’ and capacities to the will of God as outlined in His Word. Our ‘idea’ of what is good is not His way.
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, saith the LORD.” ~Isaiah 55:8
Our hearts are not trustworthy and unlike what the world says, we are not to ‘follow our hearts’ because:
“The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? ~Jeremiah 17:9
How are we then to align our capacities to His capacities? We can not do this apart from the will of God. If we repent of our sins against God (rejection of God, denying Jesus Christ, disobeying His moral law – the Ten Commandments, etc.) He is merciful to forgive us!
“…if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” ~Romans 10:9
“If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.” ~Ephesians 4:21-24
