Art!

What was your favorite subject in school?

If I had to choose one subject that was my favorite, I would most likely choose Art. I remember us all sitting at long tables. I can remember the dark brown glass jars of rubber cement – the smell, the thickness of it…do they even use that anymore?

I remember paper mâché and the wet gooey texture of newspaper strips soaked in the creamy mixture – making oversized sculptures and then painting them.

I recall an assignment where we made our own board games and I made my own game pieces out of clay.

Working with clay, was interesting – I remember the tools used to “score” the clay…and the kiln.

I recall in high school art class, creating a water color painting of a beautiful scene in nature – I can see the hues of browns, harvest gold and amber tones. This is around the time I began to gain confidence in the art of creating.

God has given us all talents and skills. Use what he has given you to serve Him and encourage others…and enJOY!

And thou shalt speak unto all that are wise hearted, whom I have filled with the spirit of wisdom, that they may make Aaron’s garments to consecrate him, that he may minister unto me in the priest’s office. And these are the garments which they shall make; a breastplate, and an ephod, and a robe, and a broidered coat, a mitre, and a girdle: and they shall make holy garments for Aaron thy brother, and his sons, that he may minister unto me in the priest’s office. And they shall take gold, and blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine linen.” ~Exodus 28:3-5
